Steady Wisdom: Day 83

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

DAY 83

I have no attributes.  I am action-less, eternal, ever-free and indestructible.  I am not the body which is unreal.
-Aparokshanubhuti V.27
Meditation

This much is obvious: The body possesses attributes such as tallness, shortness, thinness, fatness etc.; the body performs action; the body is subject to beginning and end, to creation (birth) and destruction (death).

This much is also obvious:  Because the body is an ever-changing collection of attributes that has a beginning and end, it is unreal; I am reality itself so I cannot be the body; further, I am the knower of the unreal body so for this reason too, I cannot be the body.

My firm conviction is: Because I am not the body, I am not bound by it; I am not defined or limited by its attributes; I perform no action whatsoever; I have no beginning, no end and I cannot be changed.  OM.

DAY 59

I am free from impurity.  I am immovable and infinite.  I was not born, not will I decay or die.  I am immortal.
-Aparokshanubhuti V.28
Meditation

I am infinite, for there is nowhere that existence does not exist.  Because I am infinite, I cannot go anywhere—I am the immovable reality that exists at all places and at all times.  I alone exist so there is nothing external to me that can taint me.  What exists by definition must always exist, can never not exist and can never change.  So I was not born, I do not decay and I do not die.  I am immortal.  OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

DAY 50

Untouched by suffering, beyond all illusory appearances and free from doubt and indecision, I am all-pervasive; I am not the body which is unreal.
-Aparokshanubhuti V.26
Meditation

Seeing as the body and mind disappear in deep sleep and continuously change during waking and dreaming, how can they be anything but unreal appearances of myself, all-pervasive pure being?  As such, I am free from the doubt and indecision of the mind; I am untouched by the suffering of both the mind and body.  OM.

DAY 48

Untouched by suffering, beyond all illusory appearances and free from doubt and indecision, I am all-pervasive; I am not the body which is unreal.
-Aparokshanubhuti V.26
Meditation

I am not the body nor the mind, both of which are illusory appearances projected onto myself, the one, all-pervasive reality.  Because I am not the body or mind, I am free from doubt, indecision and suffering.  I am the one, limitless reality.  OM.

DAY 25

As waves are only water and copper pots only copper, the universe is me alone.
– Aparokshanubhuti V.63
Meditation

As consciousness I cannot be any part of the universe that appears in me.  But as existence every part of the universe is myself.  Like waves to water and pots to copper, everything is me but I am no thing.  I am limitless.
