At this point we’ve established that Vedanta is a means of self-knowledge i.e. permanent freedom. But where did it come from? Who–if anyone–invented it?

Vedanta says that freedom is your nature. If what you want is freedom, but you already are free, is there an action you can do to get yourself? Or is another means required?
