Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 75

I am infinite like space and the universe is like a jar, appearing in me but not limiting or dividing me in any way.  Knowing this, there is nothing to be renounced, accepted or destroyed.
    -Ashtavakra Samhita 6:1
    Meditation

The universe is a collection of mutually limiting objects that are subject to division and change.  But because the universe appears in me, consciousness-existence, like a jar appearing in space, I am not subject to the limitations or divisions of the ever-changing objects in any way.  I am ever-free and ever the same, in the presence or absence of objects.  What then needs to be renounced, accepted or destroyed?  All is well, just as it is.  OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 73

I am like the ocean and the universe is like the wave.  Knowing this, there is nothing to be renounced, accepted or destroyed.
    -Ashtavakra Samhita 6:2
    Meditation

The universe is but an illusory appearance of my own self.  Therefore I alone exist.  Since nothing other than myself exists, there is nothing available for me to accept, reject or destroy.  OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 72

For me there is no mental action, good or bad.  For me there is no physical action, good or bad.  For me there is no verbal action, good or bad.  I am immortal consciousness, beyond the senses.
    -Avadhuta Gita 1:8
    Meditation

I am immortal consciousness.  Mental, physical and verbal action (good and bad), along with the senses, are all revealed by my “light.”  Just as the light of a lamp is uninvolved with and unaffected by the objects it reveals, I am uninvolved with and unaffected by action and the senses.  OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 68

Knowing I am the self, I see I am not touched by virtue or vice, just as the sky is not touched by smoke, even though it appears to be.
    -Ashtavakra Samhita 4:3
    Meditation

Virtue and vice belong to the body-mind which appears in me, consciousness, like smoke appearing in space.  Just as space is untouched by smoke, I am untouched by the virtue and vice of the body.  OM.

  • Steady Wisdom: Day 66

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 66

There is no day or night in the sun because its very nature is light.  Similarly, there is no knowledge or ignorance in me since my very nature is consciousness, void of all distinctions.
    -Upadesha Sahasri 17:66 (Metrical)
    Meditation

The sun shines on the earth, making day and night possible.  But because its very nature is light, the sun remains unaffected by day and night.

The self shines on the mind, making ignorance and knowledge possible.  But because its very nature is consciousness, the self remains unaffected by ignorance and knowledge.

I am that self, void of all distinctions such as ignorance and knowledge.  OM.
