Steady Wisdom: Day 47

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

DAY 47

I am immutable, formless and unperturbed consciousness.  I am unaffected by the appearance of the body and mind.
-Ashtavakra Samhita 1:17
Meditation

What reveals the forms of the body and mind?  Me, pure consciousness. Does consciousness assume the forms that it illuminates?  No, therefore I am formless.  Is consciousness perturbed by the forms it illuminates?  No, therefore I am unaffected by the appearance of the body and mind. OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

DAY 44

My nature is pure consciousness.  The body, heaven and hell, bondage and freedom are merely imagined through ignorance. They do not affect me. There is nothing to fear.
-Ashtavakra Samhita 2:20
Meditation

Knowing that I am the self, I need not seek heaven nor fear hell.  I need not seek freedom nor fear bondage.  They are all illusory appearances of me, pure consciousness, similar to the way a dream is an illusory appearance of the mind of a dreamer.  Just as a dreamer is not affected by its dreams, I am not affected by the illusory appearance of heaven, hell, freedom and bondage.  OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

DAY 41

I am free from the workings of the mind.  In truth there is no empirical world or absolute reality, no happiness or misery.
-Ashtavakra Samhita 20:10
Meditation

The mind always thinks of things in terms of opposites such as the relative vs. the absolute or happiness vs. misery.  But I am free from the workings of the mind so I am untouched by these distinctions.  I am the non-dual reality that makes dualistic thinking possible; and yet, I am unaffected by it. OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

DAY 40

I am unattached to objects, actionless, self-luminous and without any blemish. This is my true nature whether or not I practice meditation.  Thinking otherwise is bondage.
-Ashtavakra Samita 1:15
Meditation

I am the pure, self-evident, actionless consciousness that is unattached to the mind, regardless of what it does or does not do.  This always has been true and always will be true.  I was only ensnared by bondage because I believed otherwise. OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

DAY 35

I am the limitless ocean of consciousness.  In me the wind of the mind produces the diverse waves of the world.  I remain unaffected.
-Ashtavakra Samhita 2:23
Meditation

The world appears as thought-waves in the ocean of the mind.  But the mind appears as a wave in me, the limitless ocean of consciousness.  The mind comes, goes and changes but I, consciousness, remain unchanged.  Therefore I am unaffected by the world.
