Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 71

I am pure, unchanging consciousness, always at peace.  I am unborn, action-less and free of the ego.
    -Ashtavakra Samhita 15:13
    Meditation

To say that action and the ego exist is to admit that they are objects known to me.  As consciousness itself I am the knower of objects but I myself am never an object.  Therefore, when the body and mind act, prompted by the desires of the ego, I remain pure, action-less and unchanged, like the sun remaining pure, action-less and unchanged despite illuminating the various activities of the world.  OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 68

Knowing I am the self, I see I am not touched by virtue or vice, just as the sky is not touched by smoke, even though it appears to be.
    -Ashtavakra Samhita 4:3
    Meditation

Virtue and vice belong to the body-mind which appears in me, consciousness, like smoke appearing in space.  Just as space is untouched by smoke, I am untouched by the virtue and vice of the body.  OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 65

The universe is merely an illusion.  Of what interest can it be to me?  What reason is there to fear death?
    -Ashtavakra Samhita 3:11
    Meditation

The body-mind will surely die.  But seeing as the body-mind is part and parcel of the illusory universe, its death is also illusory.  What reason is there to fear an illusion?

Further, what does an illusion have to offer me?  Similar to the way that food in a dream cannot satisfy hunger in the waking state, I cannot find satisfaction or security in the illusory world after I’ve awoken to my true nature as the absolute reality.  OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 63 – Week 9 Progress Check

The steady one who sees the same everywhere, sees no difference between happiness and misery, man and woman, and prosperity and adversity.
    -Ashtavakra Samhita 17:15
    Meditation

Even though I experience the dualistic, relative and mutually exclusive opposites such as happiness and misery etc., I see (clearly understand) that they are all the same as myself, the non-dual absolute.  OM.

Steady Wisdom: 108 Verses On Changing My Thinking

    DAY 62

I am infinite and pure, free from attachment and desire.  I am at peace.  Objects are illusory and they do not limit me in any way.
    -Ashtavakra Samhita 7:4
    Meditation

Attachment and desire are but thoughts and feelings that periodically appear in my mind.  As a lamp is not limited by the objects it illuminates, I am not limited by the thoughts and feelings that are known to me. Therefore, when the mind is tainted by attachment and disturbed by desire, I remain pure and fully at peace.  OM.
